Zoom Fashion

With quarantine has come an increase of time spent at home. We’re all working, going to class, and interacting with others from our houses everyday. However, even though we are spending more time staying put, fashion trends have not. Over the past year styles have changed and grown to be adaptable to the at-home and zoom lifestyle. Increase in accessories, comfortable clothing, and waist-up looks have taken off recently due to the new circumstances we are living in.

Sweat sets and athleisure: Sweat sets took off early in the quarantine days and have stayed consistent ever since. Whether its tie-dye, muted browns, or a bold red, these sets are perfect for the at-home lifestyle. They are both comfortable and chic, making you look put together while still having the comfort of pajamas. Athleisure styles are another example of the increase in comfortable pieces being popularized this year. Biker shorts, flared leggings, and athletic hoodies are the perfect way to stay comfortable yet stylish during zoom calls. Paired with chunk sneakers and a few accessories, these looks have the benefits of workout clothes, but still look like they could be on pinterest.

Headbands: Since most of our interactions now happen through a rectangle frame it’s not surprising that accessories (especially those visible through a camera) have boomed in the past few months. Headbands in particular are a big way to boost an outfit. One of my favorite hair accessories – scarf headbands – are perfect for covering unbrushed hair on early morning calls. Another great hair piece that has reemerged recently are claw hair clips. I hate having my hair in my face during class, and these are the perfect way to prevent that while still looking cute and put together. Considering that we are only showing our shoulders up, a patterned bandana or bright hair clip can go a long way with even the most simple outfits.

Statement earrings: From chunky hoops to dangly gems, statement earrings have been an easy but bold way to elevate outfits this year. Earrings are the perfect way to bring up your style in the online world. These fun pieces are the highlight of any outfit. I love pairing a bright colored earring with dark tops to really make them pop through zoom. And as an added bonus, on top of how chic they make you look on camera, wearing these fun earrings from home is great because you don’t have to worry about them being too heavy or annoying walking from class to class all day.

So here's to an almost full year of comfy sweat sets, bold accessories, and waist up fashion! I know I’m excited to see where zoom fashion trend go this next year, and I hope you are too!
